3 Things to do to Help Grow Your Subscription Box

There are a lot of tips out there about what to do and what not to do as you’re building and growing your subscription box. These are some of my top tips that will help you not only as you launch your subscription box business, but also as you grow.

  1. Research Competitors

There’s literally a subscription box for just about every interest, hobby, and niche. And there’s plenty of room for yours! When you have that a-ha moment in your subscription box, there is nothing more exciting (and a little scary) than diving in and making it happen. While there’s room at the table for everyone, it’s important to know what is already out there.

As you research, take note of your competitors’ offers, but also what they’re missing. Is that void something you can possibly fulfill with the subscription box you’re starting? Take note of the differences too. When you know the current market within your niche, it will help you make business decisions moving forward.

2. Share it with the world

Repeat after me…. I will not wait to announce my subscription box business until I have everything figured out.

You will not have it all figured out.

It will not be perfect.

It’ll be messy and overwhelming and people (aka your future subscribers) want to see that! Gone are the days of perfectly polished brands. Customers want to see the realness behind the brands and you do this by taking them along your journey of building your business.

Build excitement by posting on your personal social media that you have an exciting announcement to make and set a date/time that you will announce it. Play it off as you know it’s vague, but you’re still ironing out some of the details. Then at that date and time, you go LIVE and announce your subscription box to the world! Invite people to follow along and get on your email list to be the first to know when the cart is open.

After that, you share, share, share. Ask your followers’ opinions on colors, products, and logos. Share the good and the bad. When you take them along on your journey, you are building that emotional connection that leads to loyal subscribers.

3. Identify the value of your box and what it offers others

Your subscription box is more than the items you include. Every single box brand brings additional value to its subscribers. Does your subscription box provide:

  • Educational information

  • Facilitates connections and conversations with family and friends

  • FUN

  • Experiences

  • Relaxation

  • A community of like-minded people

Those are just a few examples. Knowing the qualitative value your subscription box brings will allow you to incorporate that into your website, and social media posts and help build the emotional connection between you and your audience.
